In February 2019, PlatinumGames was no longer involved in the project, leaving Cygames to handle the rest of development. Its official title, Granblue Fantasy: Relink, was revealed in December 2018. Director Tetsuya Fukuhara described some gameplay details - the game includes four person co-operative multiplayer, or, single person play with three AI characters. The first public gameplay was shown at GranBlue Fes 2017. The game is set in the same fictional realm as the original Granblue Fantasy but takes place in a different location, although some characters from the original game will appear.
